Although there are a dozen or so companies that make this style of sauna and although all the saunas may look alike, they are NOT alike.

FAR INFRARED (FIR): The FIR sauna has several advantages over a traditional dry sauna or a steam sauna. For example, a conventional dry sauna heats the air in the chamber to a very high temperature, which in turn heats our body. A steam sauna requires special plumbing and involves the extra mess of humidity, mold and fungus. Also, in a steam sauna one sweats less (ie: less sweat and more water condensation on the skin). A FIR sauna works differently. Neither oxygen molecules nor nitrogen molecules in the air can block the FIR wave; therefore, the FIR unique wave length penetrates directly onto our body a couple of inches. It makes us feel quite warm and we perspire profusely, quickly and at a lower temperature but our skin is not hurt by the hot air. 1.) To increase heating efficiency, the Healthy Heat saunas have not one, but TWO FIR PANELS along the back wall of the sauna.
