In order to optimize the conditions of work of the security forces (in particular during the football WC), the Minister had arranged the acquisition of altogether 508 new employment vehicles. Bayerns can trust the police on the quality and reliability as well as on the modern technology of their new employment vehicles. 35 BMWS 525d Touring and 333 BMWS 320d Touring will facilitate the work for the safety forces in the WC cities Munich and Nuernberg. The police vehicles rolled off the line in Munich and Dingolfing. For the Bavarian police the modernization of the vehicle park is an important component of their security concept for the soccer world championship. The decision, to let supply 368 of the 508 new employment vehicles by BMW, proves the high requirements of the security authorities.

In Munich Dr. Michael Ganal, member of the executive committee of the BMWS AG responsible for selling and marketing, will hand over the first 50 vehicles on 26th April at 18.00 o'clock on the Odeonsplatz to Minister of State Dr. Guenther Beckstein. In Nuernberg the symbolic key delivery to the Minister will take place on the 8th May at 14.30 o'clock at the Sebalder place by the director/conductor of the region Germany of the BMWS Group, Ludwig Willisch. Next to the handling characteristics and security of the BMWs, also the competitive costs for the vehicles are of great importance; not only the resale value, but also the servicecosts and -friendliness contribute.

Today about 1300 BMWs are in service of the Bavarian police. BMW Group is responsible for the development and also to supply the demand of employment vehicles. Body and interior of the cars manufactured for the police are prepared factory-installed for the integration of auxiliary installations.
